On Top Chef: Masters this week the quickfire challenge was color based, red, orange, green, or red. A whole meal in that color. (P.S. this is my current favorite tv show). While I have trouble with the color vision, everything worked out well, according to J. If I did it I would continually be asking for J. or my assistant.

So I've been thinking, could you do that with a single ingredient? Things that are easy; chickpeas (fresh chickpeas, dried chickpeas, hummus, breads, fries) or soy (beans, milk, sauce, tofu, flour). Other things are more challenging; salmon (fresh, cured, canned) or chocolate (chili, dessert, ?). Things like chicken don't count. Too easy.

I now some ladies (professionally) who have a bacon club. Every month or so they have a pot-luck social, more of a club cook-together, where every course or plate item must include bacon. I love this. Bacon isn't necessarily the star, but it is always working for you. Including desserts.

Peas!

The peas are here! The peas are here! Maybe 2 weeks? I'm not sure. Hopefully there will be enough to make a nice sized dish for J. and I. I'm thinking minced shallots, vanilla sugar, olive oil, sea salt.
